Annual Seminar and Exhibition- Genesis
A Design Fest organized by Garodia School of Professional Studies to congregate professionals from the industry and our budding designers. The exhibition houses their academic work, displayed innovatively. Stalwarts from the field of design are invited to talk their philosophies of design. This activity fosters constructive interaction amongst GSPS students and visitors along with critical feedback, which gives them insight into the demands of their profession. The event is open to all.
Fashion Panorama
As a culmination of all the hard work put in through the year, GSPS hosts a fashion show 'Fashion Panorama' displaying classwork of students of Fashion Design Department. In 2017 Ms. Simran Ahuja, Miss India 2013 walked the ramp as our Show Stopper.
Scholarships and Prizes
To motivate and encourage talented and needy students, every year, GSPS awards various scholarships ranging from full scholarship to part to its students from the final year. These are decided after various rounds of scrutiny including an interview with the students. Prizes and certificates are also awarded to the hardworking students who create a mark in intercollegiate competitions and college fests and events.
Teachers Day
Every year, GSPS celebrates Teachers Day to commemorate Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday. On this occasion, to show its appreciation, respected personalities from the teaching fraternity are felicitated.
Study Tour
Study tours are an important part of Curriculum. It helps student to relate and convert theoretical knowledge into practical experience. At GSPS, every year, we organize such educational trips for the students where they undergo 7 to 8 days trip and do on site Measured Drawings, Visual Analysis of exterior and built environment, Materials, Construction Methods and submit the reports in compiled form of drawings, scripts, photographs, sketches etc.
Society of Dyers and Colorist (SDC)
A seminar was organized (SDC) for the Society of Dyers and Colorists ( Education Charity ) on 28th June, (Thursday) 2018 for design students. The seminar provided expert guidance from international speakers Ms Maryann Wong and Mr Sandeep Mehta on Business of Colors and colors workflow end to end solution. The highlight of the seminar was the ' Color Trend Spring Summer 2019 '
The event was free for all 'SDC college members and students members'
Bombay Presidency Golf Club (Fashion Show)
A fashion show was organized for Bombay Presidency Golf Club on the event of Women's Day on 9th March 2019, and professional models sashaying the ramp in garments designed by the students of GSPS. The senior members of BPGC walked the ramp in hand painted ensembles created by the GSPS team.
Project Fashion
Students of GSPS participated at the Project Fashion on 27th Jan 2019, the first and coolest fashion carnival where they showcased their designed and tailored garments on the ramp. The students walked the ramp in their designed ensembles at the Phoenix market city at Dublin Square.
Maker Mela
GSPS fashion design students were the WINNERS of BIO FASHION SHOW 2019, at ‘Maker Mela’ held in Somaiya College on 18th Jan 2019. It was India's first ever bio-fashion show where 126 designers and models participated from across India. The whole process of making bio fabric was taught by the experts and the final outcome was extraordinary.
Our students learned and excelled in making bio textiles under the guidance of our expert faculties as they worked hard day and night with the students at GSPS. This led to great success at the Maker Mela event.
Sports Day
Practice like you have never won; perform like you have never lost! That's how we promote active sports day for our students every year. With a mix of serious sports and some stress busting games, students compete against each other for a day of fun and excitement.
Social Causes - Street Play
Our students launched a social awareness campaign against Air Pollution by educating the residents of Ghatkopar regarding the ill effects of leaf burning and providing solutions. This included a street play, “Sunosuno” which was promoted by the Rotary Club (Ghatkopar)
Jhola Campaign
Our fashion designing students also took part in the widely popular ‘Jhola Campaign’ and created jholas using old bed sheets that were distributed to people, encouraging them to use cloth bags instead of the polythene counterparts. A batch of around 50 school bags made with old denims was distributed to school children from a village near Palghar adopted by the Rotary Club.
